Five phases of development totalling 1,800 new homes are planned for the 66 hectare site. The first phase, comprising 378 two, two-and-a-half and three storey properties is now underway.
Of these 78 will have two bedrooms, 206 three, 44 four and there will be 50 apartments. All will be to Level 4 of the government’s Code for Sustainable Homes – higher than the required standard – and are also compliant with the Lifetime Homes and Secured by Design standards. This means the homes will be greener, larger and more secure.
The sloping site will feature terraced gardens designed to maximise the views over the Tyne Valley. The development will be in five phases incorporating public open space and pedestrian links to integrate the new neighbourhood into the existing area.
